How It Works

Once absorbed, nitrofurantoin is rapidly excreted into the urine. In bacterial cells, it is converted into reactive intermediates that damage bacterial DNA, proteins, and enzymes, inhibiting growth and leading to bacterial death. This action helps clear infections in the bladder and urinary tract.
